FIRE EXTINGUISHING EQUIPMENT

The fire extinguishing equipment is designed to detect, warn and extinguish fire in fire dangerous sections of aircraft as well to warn about occurring fire, frame propagation in adjacent compartment.

The fire extinguishing equipment consists of:

- fire protection system; - fire extinguishing system;
- fire warning system; - portable fire extinguishers.
The fire extinguishing systems includes fire warning system in protected sections of engines and APU, signaling system on overheating in engines nacelles and warning system and smoke signaling system.

Signals on fire, heating, smoke and extinguisher discharge are transmitted to emergency recorder BUR-92A system provides:

- place of fire warning indication; - signaling on smoke;
- automatic switching of the first fire extinguishers discharge; - signaling on fire extinguish;
- signaling on fire extinguishers discharge; - check of fire protection system serviceability.

The fire warming devices and over heating, installed in protected sections of engines and APU as well as smoke detection elements, installed on ceiling of baggage compartment and lavatory are sensitive elements of system.

The amplifying and processing units (BUOS), supplying the signal on discharge of fire extinguisher activation squib are the command elements of system. Fire information from BUOS will enter to emergency recorder, to crew members, and to SPZ control panel.

The fire extinguishing system provides extinguishing of fire in fire dangerous sections of engines nacelles and APU. Two stationary fire extinguishers 1-st and 2-nd discharges are installed on aircraft. The first discharge fire extinguisher takes place automatically or by hand, and second discharge fire extinguisher - only by hand. The fire extinguishers are installed under left and right fillets of wing and fuselage. At forced landing with retracted landing gear, the actuator of microswitch SPZ, installed in fuselage lower part, activates and discharge of all fire-extinguishers occur in engine nacelles.

The fire extinguisher charge pressure is monitored by manometers, installed in fire extinguisher head adapters. The red signaling discs are located along starboard and portside to warn about self-discharge of fire extinguishers in fillets of wing and fuselage. Absence of these discs will inform about self-discharge of relevant fire-extinguisher.

Control for fire extinguishing system (FES) check of its work is performed by indication control panel and cheek of its serviceability - from the check control panel of FES.

The portable hand extinguishers are designed to extinguish the fire in aircraft compartments and in baggage section and lavatory. 4 hand fire-extinguisher OR-1 Chladon is installed in cockpit, portside, OR-2 Chladon - in passenger compartment on web of frame No. 7, right to entrance cockpit, fire extinguishers OR1-2 Water and OR2-4 Chladon is installed near the passenger cabin, starboard, on the web of frame No. 30.

The fire extinguishers with “Chladon” is used to extinguish any aflame materials including those being under electrical voltage. The fire extinguisher with “Water” is used to extinguish the smouldering fire area, aflame structural and covering materials, not being under electrical voltage. For these areas they are more effective than the fire extinguishers with Chladon.
